Transforming Outdoor Spaces: A Stunning Garden Makeover with Wheelchair Access by Evergreen Landscapes Ltd

At Evergreen Landscapes Ltd, we believe that every garden should be both beautiful and accessible. Our recent project showcased this philosophy perfectly as we transformed an ordinary garden into a vibrant, functional space that seamlessly blends aesthetics with accessibility. The highlight? A stunning wheelchair-accessible ramp designed to integrate effortlessly with the surrounding landscape.

The Challenge: Creating an Accessible, Stylish Garden

Our client wanted more than just a garden makeover. They needed an outdoor space that:

  • Provided easy wheelchair access without compromising on style.
  • Enhanced the garden's natural beauty.
  • Offered a functional, welcoming environment for family gatherings and relaxation.

The Solution: Blending Design with Accessibility

Our team got to work, combining creative landscaping techniques with practical solutions:

  1. Custom Wheelchair Ramp Design:
  • We crafted a ramp with a gentle gradient, ensuring smooth and safe navigation.
  • The ramp was built using natural stone to blend with the garden's existing pathways, creating a cohesive look.
  1. Garden Transformation:
  • We introduced lush, low-maintenance greenery that adds colour and texture.
  • A mix of paved patios and raised flower beds provided both aesthetic appeal and practical use.
  • Thoughtfully placed seating areas make the garden perfect for relaxation and social gatherings.
  1. Attention to Detail:
  • Integrated non-slip surfaces for added safety.
  • Smooth transitions between different garden levels for effortless movement.
  • Subtle lighting to highlight pathways and key features, enhancing both safety and ambiance after dark.

Evergreens recommendations for using Shed & Fence Paint

Palatine Paints professional shed and fence paint is a high-quality paint that can be used to protect and enhance the appearance of wooden sheds and fences. Here are some tips for using Palatine Paints professional shed and fence paint:

  1. Prepare the surface: Before applying the paint, make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of any debris, dust, or dirt. Sand down any rough areas and remove any loose or flaking paint.
  2. Apply a primer: If the surface has not been previously painted, or if the existing paint is in poor condition, it is recommended to apply a primer first. This will help the paint to adhere better and will provide an additional layer of protection.
  3. Use the right brush or roller: Use a high-quality brush or roller to apply the paint. A brush will give a more precise finish, while a roller will be quicker and will give a smoother finish.
  4. Apply in thin, even coats: Apply the paint in thin, even coats, working in small sections at a time. Be sure to overlap each stroke slightly to ensure an even coverage.
  5. Allow adequate drying time: Allow the paint to dry completely between coats. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the recommended drying time.
  6. Apply a topcoat: If the surface is exposed to high levels of wear and tear or sunlight, consider applying a topcoat for additional protection.
  7. Clean the tools: Clean your tools with soap and water or a paint thinner immediately after use to prevent the paint from hardening on them.
  8. Safety: Always use safety equipment such as gloves, goggles, and mask when using paint and solvents, and make sure to work in a well-ventilated area.

Evergreens advice for cleaning Patios

Sodium hypochlorite, can be an effective cleaning solution for patios. Here are some tips for using it:

  1. Dilute the bleach: Mix a solution of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water in a plastic bucket. Never mix bleach with ammonia or acids as it creates dangerous gases.
  2. Test a small area first: Before applying the solution to the entire patio, test it on a small, inconspicuous area to ensure it doesn't cause any discoloration or damage.
  3. Use gloves and eye protection: Wear gloves and goggles to protect your skin and eyes from the bleach solution.
  4. Apply the solution: Using a stiff-bristled brush or a pressure washer, apply the bleach solution to the patio and scrub the surface thoroughly. Be sure to get into all the crevices and corners.
  5. Allow the solution to sit: Let the solution sit on the patio for at least 15 minutes to allow it to work on tough stains.
  6. Rinse thoroughly: After the solution has sat, rinse the patio thoroughly with a hose or pressure washer.
  7. Avoid using in direct sunlight: Avoid using bleach solution in direct sunlight as it can cause discoloration.
  8. Avoid using on certain surfaces: Avoid using bleach on certain surfaces such as painted surfaces, aluminum surfaces, or natural stones as it can cause damage.
  9. Store properly: Once you are done using the solution, store any remaining solution in a cool, dark place and always label it properly.
  10. Always read the product label and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

It's always good to test the solution on a small area before using it in the entire patio. Be sure to use the solution in a well-ventilated area. And remember, never mix bleach with any other cleaning solution.

Garden Bar Project

Recently, we completed a beautiful garden bar project to be the centerpiece of our backyard.

The bar is equipped with a built-in sink, BBQ, LED TVs, heaters, and refrigerator, making it easy to cook, and mix and serve drinks for family and friends. The countertop is made of durable stone, which can withstand heavy use and is easy to clean.

One of the most unique features of the bar is the built-in lighting system. The bar is equipped with LED lights, which illuminate the area at night and create a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

The bar also features ample storage space, including shelves and cabinets, to keep all of our entertaining essentials organized and easily accessible.

One of the best things about the bar is that it's not just for summer, we use it all year round. In the summer we entertain outside and enjoy the beautiful weather, and in the colder months, we move the party inside, and it becomes a cozy spot for the family.

The garden bar project was a fun and rewarding experience, and it has quickly become a favorite gathering spot for family and friends. It's the perfect spot for hosting barbecues, parties, and casual get-togethers.

We're thrilled with how the project turned out and are looking forward to many more years of entertaining and enjoying our beautiful backyard.
